Can I apply for and obtain an MFR tag from EHS MFR Services if I go to all of the 6 mandatory essential competencies and not take the 44-hour St. John Ambulance or Red Cross Medical First Response certification?
You are quite welcome to attend the 6 mandatory essential competency refresher sessions, however this will not qualify you as an MFR as these are not proficiency courses. Once you have obtained the recognized MFR certification from either St. John Ambulance or the Canadian Red Cross, you may then apply to EHS MFR Services for registration, if you are associated with an EHS registered MFR agency. Please contact us if you still have questions after reviewing the policy documents for MFR Registration (12008.00) and MFR Re-registration (12015.00).

What is the difference between re-certification and re-registration?
Re-certification occurs when you take a re-certification course through St. John Ambulance or the Canadian Red Cross. This training is required if you allow your tag to expire.
Re-registration requires proof of attendance at EHS MFR Services approved refresher training sessions for the six (6) mandatory essential competencies, within the 3-year EHS MFR registration period.
